BEIJING, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) — China has established scientific and technological cooperation with more than 160 countries and regions, Science and Technology Minister Yin Hejun said Thursday.

At a press conference organized by the State Council Information Office, he also announced that China had signed 119 intergovernmental agreements on scientific and technological cooperation and joined more than 200 international organizations and multilateral mechanisms.

The head of the department further emphasized that during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), China expanded and deepened international scientific and technological cooperation.

He noted that China-initiated international mega-science programs, such as the online platform "Deep-Time Digital Earth," are steadily advancing. Furthermore, the country is actively participating in more than 60 international mega-science programs and projects.

Yin Hejun emphasized the accelerated development of scientific and technological innovation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. To date, China has established over 70 joint laboratories and 10 international technology transfer platforms with nearly 50 countries, targeting regions such as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Africa, and Latin America.
