Minsk, September 19 (Xinhua) — A Czech diplomat has been declared persona non grata and must leave Belarus within 72 hours, Belarusian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ruslan Varankov announced on Friday.
He recalled that the Polish and Czech authorities recently ordered Belarusian diplomats with advisory rank to leave their countries. "The acting head of the Czech diplomatic mission in Belarus, Tomas Kryl, was summoned to the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In response, he was informed that the Czech diplomat/adviser/was declared persona non grata and ordered to leave Belarus within 72 hours," R. Varankov reported.
Furthermore, the press secretary of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry noted that on Friday, Poland's Chargé d'Affaires in Belarus, Wojciech Filimonowicz, was also summoned to the country's Foreign Ministry, where he held a detailed discussion on the current state of Belarusian-Polish relations.
"The Belarusian side considers this diplomatic incident closed. In the event of further escalation, Belarus will respond appropriately. This position has been communicated to Warsaw and Prague," R. Varankov concluded.
