Kyiv, September 18 (Xinhua) — On Thursday night, Ukraine's Special Operations Forces (SOF) attacked the Volgograd Oil Refinery (OR), located in the Volgograd region in western Russia. The SOF press service reported this on its Telegram channel.

The Volgograd Oil Refinery is the largest producer of fuels and lubricants in Russia's Southern Federal District. It accounts for 5.6 percent of the country's total oil refining volume. According to the Ukrainian government, the refinery is involved in meeting the needs of the Russian military.
