PHNOM PENH, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) — A signing ceremony for projects under the Lancang-Mekong Basin Cooperation Special Fund (LMCB) for 2025 was held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on Wednesday.
The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cambodia Prak Sokhon and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wenbin.
Speaking at the ceremony, P. Sokhon noted that this fund is the main driving force contributing to the further deepening of regional integration and the sustainable development and prosperity of all participating countries.
“I would like to reaffirm Cambodia’s commitment to close cooperation at all levels with China and other countries in the Mekong River basin to realize the vision of our leaders,” he said.
In turn, Wang Wenbin noted that, within the framework of the SBLM, China has so far provided Cambodia with support in implementing 108 projects, covering areas such as poverty reduction, mine clearance, education, prevention and control of tropical diseases, and home repairs for disaster victims.
China is willing to continue strengthening solidarity and cooperation with Mekong countries, including Cambodia, to create higher-quality projects and move towards building a community with a shared future for the Lancang-Mekong countries, the Chinese ambassador said.
The Lancang-Mekong basin countries include China, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. –0–
