Moscow, September 18 (Xinhua) — Ships from the Caspian Flotilla have completed their participation in command and staff exercises to ensure the security of Russian economic and shipping facilities, TASS reported, citing the task force's press service.

According to a report, a command and staff exercise, which began on September 14, concluded Thursday at the Caspian Flotilla under the leadership of Rear Admiral Oleg Zverev, flotilla commander. The exercise focused on practicing the actions of flotilla groups in ensuring the security of maritime economic activity and shipping facilities in the Caspian Sea.

During the practical portion of the exercise, the ships' crews practiced combat training to defend against attacks by unmanned boats and unmanned aerial vehicles of a simulated enemy at sea.

As part of the exercise, the crews of the Caspian Flotilla ships completed over 25 combat training exercises involving the practical use of weapons. More than 15 warships and support vessels, coastal missile system crews, and over 100 units of military and special equipment were involved in the combat training event.
