Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University announces the launch of a new grant competition for international postgraduate students—Best International Grant for PhD (BIG PhD) 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for young talent to receive recognition and support for their scientific achievements.
At the Polytechnic University, this competition has become an annual event and is held as part of the Priority 2030 technological leadership program. A country's technological leadership begins with a strong engineering workforce—this is the foundation upon which innovation is built and true sovereignty is ensured. Universities, by training highly qualified specialists and creating cutting-edge research, are a key link in this chain. The BIG PhD program aims to reward the most active and promising international postgraduate students in engineering and the natural sciences. Participants are invited to showcase their scientific achievements: publications, grants, intellectual property, patents, conference presentations—everything that forms the basis of a successful academic career and leads to new applied research and technological discoveries.
Applications are now open and will run until October 15, 2025. Winners will receive not only honor and recognition but also financial rewards, including grants and awards from the university.
International graduate students completing their studies this year will unfortunately be unable to participate. For everyone else, this is a chance to showcase their talent and receive additional support for their research initiatives.
For me, winning the BIG PhD competition means international recognition and confidence that my research truly matters. The competition is impeccably organized, from the clear evaluation criteria to the support at every stage. "This is a case where your persistence meets support, and together they give birth to a true breakthrough," shared Gong Bowen, a PhD student at the Institute of Energy from China and a BIG PhD 2024 laureate.
Those wishing to take part in the competition can fill out the form and send it to the contacts provided. Here.
