Dushanbe, September 17 (Xinhua) — Tajik President Emomali Rahmon stated that 98 percent of the country's electricity is currently generated from hydropower, the Khovar news agency reported on Wednesday.
Speaking in Dushanbe at a meeting with staff of the Committee for Environmental Protection, the president also reported that the republic ranks 130th in the world in terms of greenhouse gas emissions, demonstrating one of the best indicators.
“With the implementation of national plans and programs, by 2032, the country’s electricity production will be entirely supplied by renewable sources, that is, 100 percent green energy, and by 2037, greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced to a minimum level according to international standards,” said E. Rahmon. –0–
