More than five thousand students of Moscow IT classes will undergo practical training under the program of the educational platform "Netology", developed jointly with Sber experts. Classes will be held at the digital technology school "School 21" in the format of a school day at an IT company. Schoolchildren will have to try themselves in the role of entry-level developers and analysts. This was reported by Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development.

"Information technology is one of the most popular areas among Moscow high school students. In order to maintain the interest of the children and expand the opportunities for studying specialized subjects, we cooperate with leading companies in the capital. Thus, this year, more than five thousand students of Moscow IT classes will undergo practical training in programming with full immersion in the profession at the digital technology school "School 21". The children will spend entire school days in an IT company. This format will better introduce schoolchildren to the industry in which they plan to build a career. Students will see from the inside how IT products are created, immerse themselves in a professional atmosphere and solve applied problems based on real expert cases," said Anastasia Rakova.

Schoolchildren will face real tasks that Sber's budding specialists face. Tenth-graders will master Python programming, and eleventh-graders will work with databases. The children will get acquainted with the basics of the programming language, study the structures and types of data, the principles of working with databases and the SQL structured query language, learn how to set up a workspace, and complete tasks on interactive simulators. The best participants will be able to go on a tour of the head office of Russia's largest bank.

"Our project was created with the aim of developing schoolchildren's applied knowledge and skills in the IT field. This is useful both in terms of career guidance and preparation for future educational and professional activities. By immersing themselves in the context of real tasks, they will be able to understand what to expect from work, decide on a career track and more easily choose their further educational path," said Marianna Snigireva, CEO of the educational platform "Netology".

Chairman of the Moscow Bank of Sberbank German Barg added that the project opens the door to the world of technology for thousands of Moscow schoolchildren. They will be able not only to learn the Python language and databases, but also to touch real tasks. This will be an opportunity to try themselves in the profession of the future and believe in their strength.

In addition, since 2024, IT class students have been honing their practical skills in the Digital Lesson project, which gives schoolchildren the opportunity to gain knowledge from leading Russian technology companies. High school students learn about various aspects of IT — from cybersecurity to working with artificial intelligence — and solve real-life company problems.

Pre-professional education is a unique project in Moscow that helps high school students make a conscious choice of their future profession. Engineering, medical, entrepreneurship, pedagogical, IT and media classes are currently operating in the capital. About a third of all high school students in the city study in them. The partnership system “school — college — university — industrial partner” helps students of educational institutions learn more about their future profession.

"School 21" is a school of digital technologies where you can master a sought-after IT profession from scratch. No basic knowledge, no work experience, and no programming skills are required for admission — for more than half of the participants, this is their first such experience. All graduates successfully find employment in large Russian IT companies and startups. Today, "School 21" operates in 16 cities in Russia, including Moscow, Kazan, Novosibirsk, Yaroslavl, Nizhny Novgorod, Ufa and others.
