Nanning, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) — China is willing to work with countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to take the building of a China-ASEAN community with a shared future to a new level by taking a more proactive approach and implementing more pragmatic measures, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng said on Wednesday.
Han Zheng made the remarks while speaking at the opening ceremony of the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo and the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (GZAR, south China).
He noted that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both sides, the China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership has continuously deepened in recent years, becoming the most successful and dynamic model of regional cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region and a shining example of advancing the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
China is willing to continue to adhere to peaceful coexistence and mutually beneficial cooperation with ASEAN countries, take a more proactive approach and more concrete measures to advance the building of a China-ASEAN community with a shared future to a new stage and make greater contributions to regional peace, stability, development and prosperity, Han Zheng said.
He called on both sides to strengthen the alignment of development strategies, jointly promote high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, and work to implement the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and the Global Governance Initiative.
The two sides, the deputy head of state continued, should accelerate the pace of regional openness and cooperation, jointly build a China-ASEAN 3.0 free trade area, and continue the high-quality implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).
Han Zheng also called for joint efforts to continuously expand bilateral cooperation in emerging industries and maintain the stability of global industrial and supply chains.
He also called on both sides to promote civilizational mutual learning, facilitate personnel exchanges, and implement more projects to improve people's well-being.
Han Zheng noted that China will adhere to a high-level approach to opening up to the outside world to provide more opportunities for the world and promote the common development of all countries through its own high-quality development. He expressed hope that all parties will make full use of the China-ASEAN Expo and the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit to share opportunities and jointly advance toward a better future.
