BEIJING, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) — Zhang Youxia, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), called on Wednesday for making new and greater contributions to lasting world peace and universal security.
Zhang Youxia made the call at the welcoming banquet of the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, which is attended by representatives from more than 100 countries, regions and international organizations.
Zhang Youxia expressed hope that all participants will effectively use the forum's platform to strengthen ties of friendship, conduct dialogue and consultations on an equal basis, discuss important security issues, and protect common interests.
According to him, the recent military parade dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War once again showed the world that the power of the Chinese armed forces is a growing force for world peace.
Zhang Youxia added that the Chinese military intends to continue to work with all parties to deepen and expand military exchanges and cooperation in various fields and at various levels, counter new threats and challenges through stronger unity and cooperation, and bring more stability to a world full of upheavals and changes.
