On September 29, the finals of the All-Russian competition for teachers in the secondary vocational education system, "Master of the Year," will begin in Kursk. Eighty-nine participants—one from each region—will compete for the title.

"The 'Master of the Year' competition is celebrating its fifth anniversary. This year alone, nearly 10,000 college and technical school teachers participated—unique individuals who have chosen this noble and responsible profession. The competition is held as part of the 'Professionalism' federal project of the 'Youth and Children' national project. I am confident it will continue to be a tool for supporting educators and working toward the goal set by President Vladimir Putin of training 1 million specialists and skilled workers by 2028," emphasized Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.

The Deputy Prime Minister added that the competitions help participants share best practices, meet colleagues from different regions, gain new knowledge and additional recognition, while the winners and runners-up receive career advancement, commemorative gifts, and cash rewards.

In 2025, nearly 10,000 people applied to participate in the competition's qualifying round—one and a half times more than last year. The top five regions by number of applications were Perm Krai, Orenburg Oblast, Novosibirsk Oblast, Belgorod Oblast, and Samara Oblast.

"The final of the All-Russian 'Master of the Year' competition in Kursk will bring together the country's best teachers. Each of them is already a winner, having proven their mastery and high level of professionalism. Their achievements are not only the foundation of their personal professional excellence but also the foundation for the development of the entire secondary vocational education system, which celebrates its 85th anniversary this year. We not only identify the best teaching practices but also fulfill a strategic goal – taking the training of personnel essential to our country's economy to a new level. Today's students are the very people of the future. And it is crucial that they are taught and nurtured by true masters of their craft. I am confident that the pedagogical legacy of the competition will be applied in new educational projects," said Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov.

The competition final traditionally takes place in the home country of the previous year's winner. In 2024, Dmitry Medvedev from the Kursk region achieved the best results. The final events will be broadcast live: HTTPS: //vk.k.mas. Tergoda.

"The Master of the Year competition final is a significant event for the entire country, a true celebration of professionalism, inspiration, and teaching excellence. Our region is honored to host it. Hosting the final in Kursk has a special, symbolic significance for us—it marks the region's transition to peace. And the fact that representatives from across the country will gather here is especially significant—it's a clear sign of unity and support. This was made possible by the victory of our fellow countryman, Dmitry Medvedev, in 2024. This began his journey from teacher to college director, and this is not only his personal achievement but also that of the Master of the Year competition. We are proud of our secondary vocational education teachers and are pleased to learn about the best practices of our colleagues from all over the country. Welcome to Kursk, the host city of the anniversary Master of the Year competition final!" said Kursk Region Governor Alexander Khinshtein.

The opening ceremony of the "Master of the Year" finals and the completion of the competition flag relay will take place on September 29. The business program of the competition will begin on the same day with a plenary session, and the competitive program will begin with an educational case competition. On September 30, participants will face another challenge – the "Open Lesson."

The names of the ten winners of the competition will be announced on October 1st, and on the same day, the final competition, “Fall in love with the profession,” will be held for them.
