XINING, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) — Chinese Premier Li Qiang has called for efforts to coordinate high-quality development and high-level protection, and accelerate the construction of a modern industrial system that utilizes local characteristics and advantages.
Li Qiang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during an inspection tour of Gansu and Qinghai provinces, both in northwest China, from September 15 to 16.
During a visit to a high-tech company and industrial park in Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, Li Qiang said it is necessary to follow international advanced trends, support enterprises and research institutions in increasing investment in research and development, and improve personnel training mechanisms.
The Premier inspected the afforestation and environmental protection activities in Lanzhou's Yellow River section. Commending the local achievements in ecological restoration, he called for a comprehensive and systematic approach to protecting mountains, waters, forests, fields, grasslands and deserts to steadily build on the country's hard-won green heritage.
In Xining City, Qinghai Province, Li Qiang was briefed on local environmental protection efforts and the use of green electricity and green computing power. He pointed out the ecological significance of Qinghai Province and its advantages in developing green energy and green computing power, calling for steady progress on the path of green development and further integration of green computing and clean energy.
After visiting a local food company, the Premier called on enterprises to deepen their participation in the development of green farming and livestock farming, playing a more significant role in improving the quality and efficiency of production, as well as increasing the employment and income of farmers and livestock breeders.
While praising the socio-economic achievements of Gansu and Qinghai provinces, Li Qiang stressed the importance of further progress in green development and large-scale development of China's western regions to make new contributions to the country's overall development. –0–
