BEIJING, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday congratulated Papua New Guinea Governor-General Bob Dadae on the country's 50th anniversary of independence.

In his congratulatory message, Xi Jinping noted that Papua New Guinea has made remarkable achievements in socio-economic development over the past 50 years since its independence.

Xi said that in the 49 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and Papua New Guinea have supported each other and advanced hand in hand along the path of development, which has improved the well-being of the two peoples and contributed to the stability and prosperity of the region.

The Chinese leader stressed that he attaches great importance to developing relations with Papua New Guinea and is ready to work together with B.
