BEIJING, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) — China's top 500 enterprises saw a steady increase in R&D spending in 2024, with their average R&D spending intensity rising for eight consecutive years, according to the 2025 Enterprise Ranking Report.

According to the annual list of China's top 500 enterprises, the average R&D expenditure intensity of the top 500 enterprises reached a record high of 1.95 percent in 2024.

The list was compiled based on companies' operating revenues for 2024, with the threshold for entry into the rankings being 47.96 billion yuan (about $6.75 billion), up 579 million yuan from the previous year.

Among China's top 500 enterprises, 267 reported operating revenues of over 100 billion yuan, accounting for 53.4 percent of the total number of companies on the list.

The total operating revenue of the listed companies in 2024 was 110.15 trillion yuan, continuing to grow year-on-year. -0-
