ALMATY, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) — Kazakhstan plans to put into operation the National Water Resources Information System in 2026, the press service of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan reported on Monday.
The department reported that the system will include data on surface and underground water, hydraulic structures and other water management facilities. In the future, it is planned to use artificial intelligence and space monitoring data, which will make it possible to determine the country's water balance, the real water needs of the economy and the population, and analyze and track the use of water resources.
As a result of the implementation of the information system, a single digital platform will be created for recording and managing surface and groundwater resources.
The platform is being developed using grant funds from the Eurasian Development Bank. The project will be completed by the end of 2026. –0–
