BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) — The final round of the quiz "Remembering History, Building Peace Together" dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War was successfully held at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) on Sept. 13. The event was jointly organized by the BFSU Russian Language Institute, CGTN Russian Office and the International Exchange and Cooperation Department of Renmin University of China.

The quiz was held under the guidance of the Education Council of the China-Russia Friendship, Peace and Development Committee and received active responses from universities across the country. The event started in May 2025 and lasted for four months in the format of an online quiz, attracting more than 400,000 participants, over 1.1 million views and over 10,000 discussions.

The Russian edition of CGTN organized offline quizzes in Russia's hero cities such as Moscow, St. Petersburg and Volgograd, attracting hundreds of Russian teachers, students and members of the public. In China, 19 universities took part in the online quiz, with teams from Renmin University of China, Northwest Normal University, Shandong Vocational University of Foreign Languages and PUFL reaching the finals.

Su Dapeng, deputy secretary of the PUJI Party Committee, gave a welcoming speech, warmly welcoming the guests and participants, and called on the students to take an interest in world affairs and contribute to the development of the country. He noted that the quiz would be an intellectual feast and spiritual purification, help to root the “red genes” in the hearts of Chinese and Russian youth, and make the torch of peace even brighter in the new era.

The final quiz consisted of two stages: alternate answers and competitions. In the first stage, five members of each team answered questions in turns, choosing the answer language /Chinese or Russian/ depending on the difficulty of the question. After five rounds, the teams' total scores were calculated. The students were delighted with their rich knowledge of the history of World War II and professional terminology.

In the second stage, four teams competed in pairs in a flexible and interesting format. Participants demonstrated deep knowledge and excellent command of the Russian language, reaching the culmination of the event and causing thunderous applause.

After a tough fight, the team from Renmin University of China won first place, the team from Northwest Normal University won second place, and the teams from Shandong Foreign Languages Vocational University and PUFL won third place.

After the quiz, students of the Institute of Russian Language of PUIL presented a program with recitation of poems in Russian. -0-
