BEIJING, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) — The Eastern Zone Combat Command of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) has dispatched naval and air forces to track and monitor the U.S. destroyer USS Higgins and the British frigate HMS Richmond, which crossed the Taiwan Strait on Friday and made provocative moves.
Command spokesman Shi Yi said in a written statement that the response to the situation was timely and effective.
“The actions of the US and UK send the wrong signals and undermine peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait,” the official representative stressed.
