BEIJING, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) — China on Friday expressed deep concern over the escalating situation in the Middle East, calling on relevant parties, especially Israel, to make more positive efforts to resume talks.
The official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Lin Jian, made this statement at a regular departmental press conference.
“China is deeply concerned about the escalation of the situation in the Middle East,” the Chinese diplomat stressed, adding that China opposes actions that violate the sovereignty and security of the relevant countries in the region.
According to him, China condemns all actions that harm innocent civilians and opposes any steps that could exacerbate contradictions and thereby lead to an escalation of the situation in the region.
“Violence will not bring security, and military force will not achieve peace,” he said.
Lin Jian added that China urges all parties concerned, especially Israel, to make more positive efforts to achieve a ceasefire, resume talks, and restore peace and stability in the region, rather than the other way around. -0-
