BEIJING, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) — A freight train departed from Beijing to Almaty, Kazakhstan, on Thursday, marking the official launch of rail freight services between the two cities on the China-Europe/Central Asia route.
According to local media, the train is carrying a total of 55 containers with goods worth more than 20 million yuan, including auto parts, mesh fabric, air conditioners and microwave ovens. It departed from Beijing's Fangshan district and will arrive in Almaty after crossing the state border at the Alashankou checkpoint.
According to analysts, the launch of China-Europe/Central Asia railway freight transportation from Beijing to Almaty will not only help improve the efficiency of foreign trade freight transportation in the region of the Chinese capital and reduce enterprises' logistics costs, but will also play a positive role in deepening trade and economic cooperation between China and Kazakhstan, as well as in stabilizing production chains and supply chains between China and Europe.
The Beijing branch of China Railways Corporation (CRC) reported that in the future, train schedules will be optimized, the range of goods transported will be expanded, and assistance will be provided to the regular and efficient operation of China-Europe/Central Asia freight trains, as well as assistance to Chinese enterprises in entering their products into international markets via China-Europe/Central Asia trains. -0-
