BEIJING, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) — China's State Forestry and Grassland Administration has released detailed information on the Huangyan Dao National Nature Reserve in accordance with the country's regulations on nature reserves.

Huangyan Dao Island National Nature Reserve is located in Sansha City in China's southernmost island province of Hainan. The nature reserve covers an area of 3,523.67 hectares, including a core area of 1,242.55 hectares and an experimental area of 2,281.12 hectares.

According to the department's statement, the main object of protection of the reserve is the coral reef ecosystem.

Recall that the State Council of the People's Republic of China approved the request of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the People's Republic of China to establish a national nature reserve on Huangyan Dao Island.
