BEIJING, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) — Four more Chinese sites have been inscribed on the World Heritage List of Irrigation Works.

The International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) on Wednesday listed the Chishan Lake Irrigation System in Jiangsu Province, the Hani Terraced Fields in Yuanyang County in Yunnan Province, the Jianjiangyan Irrigation System in Sichuan Province and the Yongding River Ancient Canals in Beijing as World Heritage Sites of Irrigation Works, according to China's Ministry of Water Resources.

This brings the total number of Chinese irrigation projects included in the list to 42.

It is reported that the 12th list of sites inscribed on the World Heritage List of Irrigation Works was published at the 76th meeting of the International Executive Council of the International Commission on Irrigation Works held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Wednesday. The four above-mentioned Chinese irrigation works were added to the updated list of sites.

The inscription of sites on the World Heritage List of Irrigation Works, established by ICID in 2014, aims to protect and promote irrigation projects of historical and scientific value in the field of sustainable irrigation development. -0-
