BEIJING, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) — Chinese lawmakers gathered on Wednesday for the second plenary meeting of the 17th session of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) to review a series of reports.
Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee Zhao Leji attended the meeting.
The participants heard a report on the audit of the implementation of the Law on Trade Unions. It presented the situation with the practical application of this law, and described the difficulties and problems that arise.
Legislators reviewed a report on the implementation of the national socio-economic development plan for 2025, which assessed its progress as generally satisfactory.
The meeting heard a report on budget execution. The document defined key priorities for budgetary and financial work at subsequent stages, including the use of a more active fiscal policy and comprehensive support for stable employment and stable foreign trade.
The deputies reviewed the reports on public debt management for 2024 and on the supervisory study of public debt management for 2024.
A report was heard on promoting the integrated development of culture and tourism, which proposed improving institutional mechanisms and support systems, developing deeply integrated innovative products and services, and continuing to develop cultural and tourism exchanges and cooperation.
Lawmakers considered a report on responding to climate change and achieving peak carbon emissions and carbon neutrality, which outlined tasks for the next stages of work in this area.
The meeting also heard a report on the pilot reform of water taxation and a report on the study of a number of important aspects related to the development of the main provisions of the 15th Five-Year Plan /2026-2030/.
On the same day, Zhao Leji chaired the 49th meeting of the chairman and vice-chairmen of the 14th NPC Standing Committee. During the meeting, senior legislators heard reports on the deliberations on various bills. –0–
