BEIJING, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) — China has officially started using a domestically produced nine-valent human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine as the first dose of the vaccine was administered in Xiamen, east China's Fujian Province, on Tuesday.
Mass HPV vaccination will provide more comprehensive and accessible prevention of cervical cancer in women aged 9 to 45 years.
Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers in women worldwide, and an estimated 700,000 cases of cancer are linked to HPV each year, including about 530,000 cases of cervical cancer, with the remainder being of the anus, vulva, penis and others.
