KABUL, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) — The first batch of emergency humanitarian aid for earthquake victims provided by the Chinese government to Afghanistan arrived in Kabul on Sunday.
The cargo, delivered by two Y-20 aircraft of the People's Liberation Army Air Force, includes tents, blankets and other essential supplies for the affected areas.
The ceremony of handing over the cargo was attended by the Chargé d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Afghanistan Bao Xuhui, Deputy Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development of Afghanistan Sharafuddin Muslim, as well as representatives of the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Disaster Management Authority and the Red Crescent Society.
Bao Xuhui noted that the powerful earthquake that struck Kunar and other provinces of Afghanistan caused significant casualties and material damage. He pointed out that the Chinese government immediately decided to provide emergency humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, which fully demonstrates the friendly feelings of the Chinese government and people towards the government and people of Afghanistan.
According to the diplomat, under the leadership of the Afghan government, residents of the affected areas will certainly overcome difficulties and restore their homes in the shortest possible time.
Sh. Muslim, for his part, said that the first batch of emergency humanitarian aid from the Chinese government will be a huge support for people in the affected areas.
He noted that the Afghan leaders thank China for its sincere condolences and valuable support, and stressed that the Afghan side will always remember the friendship of the Chinese people to the Afghan people. –0–
