Denis Manturov visited the Progress Rocket and Space Center in Samara

First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov visited the Progress Rocket and Space Center in Samara. The event was attended by Dmitry Bakanov, Director General of the Roscosmos State Corporation.

RCC Progress provides a full cycle of space technology manufacturing and is a leading enterprise in the rocket and space industry for the development, production and operation of medium-class launch vehicles.

The First Deputy Prime Minister familiarized himself with the production capabilities of the enterprise, current and prospective projects, and also visited the assembly-welding-assembly shop, where the Soyuz-5 launch vehicle is being manufactured. Work on it is in the final stage.

The new launch vehicle is being created to support launches of automatic spacecraft into sun-synchronous, highly elliptical, geostationary and geostationary orbits. The Soyuz-5 launch vehicle uses new engines developed by NPO Energomash (part of Roscosmos). The rocket will be able to launch 17 tons of payload into low Earth orbit.
