KABUL, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) — At least 13 people were injured in an earthquake that hit Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province on Thursday evening, Qurishi Badlon, head of the provincial information and culture department, said on Friday.

All the victims were from the Dara-i-Noor district, he said, although the earthquake affected several areas, including the provincial capital of Jalalabad.

Two earthquakes, measuring 4.7 and 5.6 in magnitude, struck Nangarhar on Thursday morning and evening, according to the US Geological Survey.

The tremors followed a series of magnitude 6.0 earthquakes that struck Kunar province, neighboring Nangarhar, on Sunday evening, killing more than 2,200 people, injuring more than 3,600 and destroying nearly 7,000 homes. –0–
