BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) — China has congratulated Anuthin Chanvirakoon on his election as Thailand's prime minister, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said Friday.
Anuthin Chanvirakun, leader of the Phumchaithai Party, was elected as Thailand's 32nd prime minister on Friday.
"China and Thailand are close friends and good neighbors. The two countries, as before, are united and close," the official representative of the department noted.
Noting that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said China is willing to cooperate with Thailand to develop traditional friendship, strengthen strategic ties and deepen practical cooperation.
China also hopes to join hands with Thailand to achieve greater progress in building a China-Thailand community with a shared future, and jointly make active contributions to regional peace, stability, development and prosperity, the spokesperson added. -0-
