KYIV, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Telegram Thursday evening that he had a lengthy telephone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss ways to quickly establish real peace in Ukraine.
According to V. Zelensky, the conversation took place after a meeting of the “coalition of the willing” in Paris. European leaders also took part in the conversation.
Among the possible ways to end the Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict, the parties named the introduction of effective sanctions against Russia, in particular in the economic sphere.
The issue of strengthening the Ukrainian air defense system was also discussed. Kyiv proposed that the US consider a special format for protecting the Ukrainian sky. The exact format in question was not specified.
On Friday, the Interfax-Ukraine agency also reported that D. Trump plans to hold a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the near future. –0–
