Five years ago, the renovated Northern River Terminal was opened. Sergei Sobyanin spoke about how it has changed and its work on his channel in messenger MAX.
"During the grand restoration, the famous fountains, sculptures, paintings, porcelain medallions, a spire with a moving mechanism and the main decorative element – the star of the spire, decorated with 700 gems – were restored. This unique architectural monument has regained its title as one of the most important transport facilities in our city. Its piers have already received and sent on a journey more than
million passengers", the Mayor of Moscow wrote.

Thanks to its developed infrastructure, the Northern River Terminal has also become a favorite place for city residents to relax. They can visit a stream that imitates the Moscow Canal, the exhibition space of the Moscow Transport Museum and an observation deck on the roof, as well as a landscaped embankment with bike paths and rental points. In addition, there are children's and sports grounds, a summer open-air cinema and a beach with swimming pools for adults and children.
The station grounds host free events for children and adults all year round, celebrate city holidays and organize large-scale festivals. In winter, there are rides, a skating rink and a ski trail with a rental point.
One of the most striking events of the year was the Park of Light festival.
Over the five years of its operation, the Northern River Terminal has been visited by more than 12 million people, and over 1,500 events have taken place on its premises.
In the coming years, the development of the station area will continue. New modern areas for recreation and sports will be created in the park.
