KUNMING, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) — Xinhua News Agency on Friday held a ceremony to exchange cooperation agreements with the Media Development Agency of Azerbaijan and Armenia's state news agency Armenpress. The documents envisage deepening cooperation in areas such as news and information exchange, personnel visits and professional training programs.
Xinhua News Agency Director General Fu Hua attended the agreement exchange ceremony along with Azerbaijan Media Development Agency Executive Director Ahmed Ismayilov and Armenpress Director Narine Nazaryan.
The ceremonies took place as part of the 2025 Global South Media and Think Tank High-Level Forum, which is taking place from 5 to 9 September in Yunnan Province, southwest China.
According to foreign media, in recent years, Xinhua has established a diversified and meaningful multilateral exchange mechanism, which has played a positive role in supporting the overall development of countries in the Global South.
A. Ismailov expressed hope for cooperation with Xinhua in combating disinformation and training personnel to strengthen exchanges, mutual learning and mutually beneficial cooperation among countries in the Global South.
N. Nazaryan expressed her readiness to maintain regular contacts with Xinhua and provide mutual support in the area of exchanging news and information, as well as jointly tell the international community stories about the friendly cooperation between the two countries.
This year's Global South Media and Think Tank Forum was hosted by the Xinhua News Agency, the CPC Committee and the Yunnan Provincial People's Government. The first forum was held in Sao Paulo, Brazil, last November. –0–
