BEIJING, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) — Li Xi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, held separate meetings in Beijing on Thursday with Cuban First Secretary and President Miguel Diaz-Canel and Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

M. Diaz-Canel and E. Mnangagwa arrived in China to participate in commemorative events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

During the meeting with M. Diaz-Canel, Li Xi recalled that this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cuba.

China is willing to work with Cuba to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two parties and two countries, deepen strategic coordination, and continuously achieve new and significant results in building a China-Cuba community with a shared future, Li Xi said.

M. Diaz-Canel, for his part, praised China's enormous achievements in the field of development, assuring that Cuba fully supports the Global Governance Initiative and is committed to the in-depth construction of a Cuban-Chinese community with a shared future.

During the meeting with E. Mnangagwa, Li Xi said that China is willing to work with Zimbabwe to strengthen strategic mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, strengthen people-to-people ties, and continuously elevate bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields to a new level. He also expressed China's willingness to step up exchanges and cooperation with Zimbabwe in the fight against corruption.

E. Mnangagwa, for his part, warmly congratulated China on the successful holding of the commemorative events. According to him, Zimbabwe fully supports the global initiatives put forward by President Xi Jinping, firmly adheres to the one-China principle, and is ready to work with China to build an all-weather community of shared destiny. –0–
