BEIJING, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) — The 2025 Russian Film Festival, jointly organized by the State Film Administration of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, recently opened at the China Film Archives Pavilion in Beijing.
According to CCTV, the opening ceremony featured speeches by Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, General Director of China Media Corporation Shen Haixiong and Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova. The event was attended by representatives of the Chinese and Russian film communities, as well as more than 600 spectators.
In his speech, Shen Haixiong said that the annual film festivals held in both countries are an important element of cultural exchanges, implemented in accordance with the initiative of the heads of state and within the framework of the roadmap for Chinese-Russian humanitarian cooperation. The joint Chinese-Russian film "Red Silk", which will be released in China on September 6, is the latest result of sincere cooperation between filmmakers from the two countries.
He expressed confidence that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, Chinese-Russian cooperation in the field of cinematography will continue to deepen, making new positive contributions to enriching the content of cultural and humanitarian exchanges and developing Chinese-Russian relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation in the new era.
Olga Lyubimova noted in her speech that film festivals are an important part of cultural diplomacy, helping to tell the stories of each country through the language of art and to strengthen trust between peoples. She expressed confidence that the Russian films presented at the festival will find a response from the Chinese audience.
The current film festival is part of a series of events within the framework of the Years of Culture of China and Russia 2024-2025. In May of this year, the parties successfully held the 2025 Chinese Film Festival in Moscow, Kazan and St. Petersburg, where eight outstanding Chinese films that have received wide recognition from the Russian audience were shown. The 2025 Russian Film Festival will be held from September 1 to 12 in Beijing, Xining and Lanzhou, where eight Russian films of various themes and genres will be presented. -0-
