Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Co-Chairman of the Mixed Intergovernmental Russian-Algerian Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation Dmitry Patrushev held a working meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Toufic Djouama. The main topic of the meeting was the development of the potential for trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

"Algeria has traditionally been one of Russia's leading partners on the African continent. Our countries' positions on most issues on the international and regional agenda are close or coincide. We are committed to maintaining close foreign policy coordination and, in general, confirm our commitment to continuing an active dialogue in all areas of interaction," said Dmitry Patrushev.

In particular, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that Russia is ready to increase mutual supplies of agricultural products and is interested in increasing the export of mineral fertilizers to Algeria.

The Mixed Intergovernmental Russian-Algerian Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation has been operating since 2013. The Chairman of the Russian part of the commission since February 5, 2020 is Dmitry Patrushev. The Algerian part has been headed by the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries Youssef Cherfa since November 2024. The 12th meeting was held in Algiers on January 30, 2025.
