The Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center will open an exhibition entitled “Yakov Chernikhov. The Image of the Future. Architectural Fantasies of the Russian Avant-garde"The exhibition is dedicated to the work of one of the most prominent architects of the first half of the 20th century and covers all the main stages of his work.
The exhibition will feature over 500 exhibits: original architectural projects, graphics, models, manuscripts, photographs and personal items. Visitors will be able to see how Yakov Chernikhov's ideas influenced the development of architecture, graphic design, urbanism and digital technologies.
The exhibition is divided into eight thematic parts. Among them are a multimedia hall with visualizations of fantasy structures, an architect's office, a design workshop, a section on font experiments, and an exhibition called "Architectural Tales" in which Chernikhov created a world free from ideological frameworks. The final part of the exhibition is dedicated to the "Palaces and Pantheons" cycle, which anticipated many visual images of modern architecture, cinema, and video games.
The project was prepared with the participation of the Yakov Chernikhov Architectural Charity Foundation, the A.V. Shchusev State Research Museum of Architecture, the Russian State Archive of Literature and Art, and other partners.
