ISLAMABAD, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) — Eighteen people have been killed and 29 others injured in floods and rain-related incidents in Pakistan in the past 24 hours, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said on Tuesday.

The eastern province of Punjab and Pakistan-controlled Kashmir each reported seven deaths, while the northern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported four, the ministry said.

Causes of death include drowning due to flooding, structural collapse and accidental electrocution due to rising water levels in urban and suburban areas.

Authorities have issued new warnings of continued rainfall in vulnerable areas. Rescue operations and damage assessments are underway in the affected regions. –0–
