Since the beginning of the year, more than half of the planned projects of the Traffic Management Center (TMC) for re-marking have been implemented.

"Re-marking allows for faster and more comfortable travel without increasing the width of roads, even on highways with heavy traffic. Since the beginning of this year, additional lanes, new directions and U-turns have been installed on 53 sections. On the instructions of Sergei Sobyanin, we continue to improve traffic in the city," said Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry

Maxim Liksutov.

Thanks to the re-marking, traffic conditions are improved without changing the size of the roads: travel time is reduced, safety is increased and excess mileage is reduced.

Since the beginning of the year, 53 improvements have been implemented under the TSODD projects. For example, it was possible to increase the throughput capacity at the exits from the M-4 "Don" highway to the Moscow Ring Road (MKAD) by adding an additional lane. Travel time on this section was reduced from 5-10 minutes to one to three.

Also this year, two new U-turns were made on the Garden Ring before Dubininskaya and Tatarskaya Streets. This reduced the overrun by 1.8–2 kilometers, and travel time by 8–10 minutes.

At least 47 more projects are planned to be completed by the end of 2025. For example, adding lanes on the Third Transport Ring from 1st Setunsky Proezd to the exit onto Komsomolsky Prospekt and on Leningradskoye Shosse towards the region at the exits onto the Moscow Ring Road.

Re-marking reduces the excess width of existing lanes and adds additional lanes, which helps reduce congestion and eliminate bottlenecks. As a result, the capacity of congested areas increases and the average speed of movement increases. In addition, this tool is used to create new directions at intersections and additional U-turns. This creates alternative routes that help drivers get to their destination faster.
