ANKARA, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) — Turkey is working to deepen ties with China and exploring cooperation in a wide range of areas, including the economy, digital technology, energy and health care, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday, according to Turkish state broadcaster TRT.
As reported by TRT, R.T. Erdogan, returning by plane to Turkey from the city of Tianjin in northern China, where he took part in a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in the “SCO Plus” format, called his talks with the Chinese leadership on the sidelines of the meeting “productive.”
"We want to make our economic relations with China, our trading partner, more balanced and sustainable. We will continue consultations with the Chinese side," R. T. Erdogan said.
In addition, the Turkish leader emphasized the important role of the SCO. “By focusing on trade and economic cooperation, the organization has acquired a distinctive identity and at the same time strives to play a role in overcoming global and regional challenges,” he emphasized.
R. T. Erdogan added that Türkiye, as one of the countries making the greatest efforts to peacefully resolve conflicts in its region, welcomes the SCO's efforts to strengthen cooperation with dialogue partners, including Turkey. –0–
