BEIJING, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) — Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Wang Huning met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Beijing on Tuesday.

M. Pezeschkian arrived in China to participate in the 2025 Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit and the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Wang Huning noted that a new important consensus on deepening China-Iran relations was reached at a meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and President M. Pezeschkian earlier in the day.

According to the CPPCC National Committee chairman, China and Iran enjoy deep traditional friendship. Over the 54 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, bilateral ties have maintained stable and healthy development, he said, stating that China is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with Iran, implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, and promote new progress in bilateral ties.

The CPPCC National Committee is willing to play an active role in this regard, Wang Huning added.

M. Pezeshkian, for his part, noted that the Global Governance Initiative put forward by Chairman Xi Jinping is far-sighted, and the Iranian side highly appreciates and supports it.

According to him, Iran is ready to further deepen practical cooperation with China, firmly support each other, jointly resist hegemony and bullying, defend international fairness and justice, and promote the continuous and in-depth development of Iran-China relations. –0–
