Muscovites help collect humanitarian aid for residents of new and border regions every day, as well as essential goods and various supplies for participants in the special military operation (SVO). Many create volunteer associations in their district, inspiring neighbors, friends, colleagues and students to help together.
"There are opportunities to help participants in a special military operation, residents of new and border territories in every district of the capital. Headquarters operate in the city every day
"Moscow helps". As part of the “Summer in Moscow” project, the "Houses of Good". Muscovites participate in the collection with their entire families, work teams, and volunteer associations. Each of them inspires others with their example,” noted the director of the resource center. "Mosvolonter" Alexander Levit.
Thus, the director’s advisor on education and the head of the military-patriotic club “Challenge” School No. 1571 Sergei Kolesnikov, together with his colleague Kirill Kerimov and his brother Alexei Safonov, created a volunteer group in the fall of 2022 "Teachers to the Front"They united teachers, students and parents of several schools, as well as other concerned residents of the North-West Administrative Okrug.
How the group "Teachers to the Front" helps
Over the entire period, volunteers have delivered about 200 tons of aid — from wet wipes and towels to radios, antennas, thermal imagers and generators. Communications workers are supplied with various switches, wires, plugs, tools, and medical units with pills, first aid kits and special backpacks. Each delivery includes socks, T-shirts and underwear. Soldiers always need anti-thermal blankets and camouflage nets. Food, clothing, school supplies and toys are collected for residents of new and border regions.
"Our group started collecting aid for the fighters we knew personally. Now we receive requests from more than 10 military units. Over three years, we have organized more than 50 humanitarian aid shipments. Each of them is a small van. We never limit ourselves strictly to the request we receive, we always add something from ourselves: sweets, napkins, souvenirs. Every year we send about four thousand letters and drawings from our children to the fighters," shared Sergey Kolesnikov.
In 2023, a history teacher at School No. 1571 joined the initiative and held the “Give a Book” campaign to collect educational and fiction literature for the libraries of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.
Today, this team includes about 70 teachers and 50 parents from several schools in the North-West Administrative District, as well as over 100 children from grades 1 to 11. The ideological inspirers are responsible for the process of preparing humanitarian aid: Sergey Kolesnikov collects applications, attracts resources from other volunteer groups and public organizations. Kirill Kerimov coordinates the loading of goods and their unloading at destinations, and informs about promotions. Alexey Kerimov is responsible for delivery and logistics throughout the entire route.
The group's volunteers regularly organize volunteer events at school #1571. They also attract friendly foundations, neighboring schools, and initiative groups that include students' parents, acquaintances, and friends to help. In addition, they have organized a permanent exhibition display dedicated to helping SVO participants; they are currently preparing to open a museum. Volunteers conduct courage lessons and meetings with fighters for schoolchildren, thematic master classes, and first aid courses.
The teaching staff and the school trade union contribute to the general collection.
For their active participation in helping the participants of the SVO, Sergei, Kirill and Alexei were awarded medals "For Assistance to the Front", as well as letters of gratitude from the military commissariat of the city of Moscow.
