TIANJIN, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono in north China's Tianjin Municipality on Sunday.
On behalf of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who was unable to visit China due to the current domestic political situation in his country, Sugiono arrived in China to attend the 2025 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, as well as commemorative events marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
According to Sugiono, Indonesia attaches great importance to developing friendly relations with China and wishes that the current events will be crowned with complete success. He assured that the Indonesian government will make every effort to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel and institutions in Indonesia.
Wang Yi, also a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, for his part welcomed Sugiono's participation in the events in China as a representative of the Indonesian leader.
The Chinese diplomat expressed understanding and respect for the Indonesian government's adjustments based on domestic needs and expressed hope that Indonesia would ensure the safety and legitimate rights and interests of Chinese personnel and institutions in the country. –0–
