KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) — Malaysia marked its 68th anniversary of independence on Sunday with national leaders and large crowds of residents gathering in the central city of Putrajaya to watch the National Day parade.
More than 14,000 people formed 81 columns representing various strata of Malaysian society, according to Malaysia's national news agency Bernama.
Malaysia's Supreme Leader Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar watched the parade alongside Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and cabinet members. The country's air force put on a show, with fighter jets and helicopters flying in formation and performing maneuvers. –0–
