BEIJING, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) — China holds more than 500 exhibitions on the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression every year, and the annual number of visits to historical military sites and war memorials across the country has exceeded 60 million, Sun Deli, deputy director of the National Cultural Heritage Administration, said Sunday.
The list of bases for nationwide patriotic education contains a total of 96 historical military sites and memorial complexes, he said at a press conference dedicated to commemorative events on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
A total of 38 military relics tourism routes have been developed in 11 provincial-level administrative regions across the country, the official said.
Many monuments and memorials now serve multiple functions, including serving as centers for cultivating revolutionary traditions, defense education and field studies for schoolchildren, Sun Deli added. -0-
