TIANJIN, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) — Cultural and humanitarian exchanges and cooperation among the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries have expanded over the past 20 years, Secretary-General of the SCO China Committee on Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation (CCGFC) Zuo Hongbo said Saturday.

She made the remarks at a briefing for journalists in the northern Chinese port city of Tianjin, where the largest-ever SCO summit will be held from August 31 to September 1.

According to Zuo Hongbo, the areas of cooperation have expanded from science and technology, culture, education and health care to areas such as sports, tourism, media, think tanks, environmental protection and poverty alleviation.

The Secretary General of the CCDS noted that flagship projects such as SCO universities, art festivals, museum alliances, marathons, youth exchange camps and media forums had been launched, and cooperation mechanisms in the fields of culture, science and technology, healthcare and education had been improved.

Zuo Hongbo added that the CCDC has established links and maintains close cooperation with nearly 30 friendly organizations, more than 10 think tanks and over 100 media outlets in the SCO countries. –0–
