SHENZHEN, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) — BYD Company Limited, China's leading new energy vehicle (NEV) maker, reported significant growth in profit and revenue in the first half of 2025.

BYD, headquartered in Shenzhen, southern China's Guangdong Province, said its operating revenue for the first half of this year was 371.28 billion yuan (about $52.3 billion), up 23.3 percent year on year, while net profit attributable to shareholders was 15.51 billion yuan, up 13.79 percent year on year.

BYD's automotive sector, including vehicles and related products, remained the company's main growth driver, while revenue from mobile phone components and assembly services declined, the company said.

Notably, BYD significantly increased its R&D investment in the first six months of this year, up 53.05 percent year-on-year to RMB 30.88 billion.

The company also reported a significant increase in sales, with NEV sales reaching 2,145,954 units during the reporting period, up 33.04 percent year-on-year. -0-
