ASTANA, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) — Kazakhstan is widely celebrating the 30th anniversary of the adoption of its Constitution with nationwide celebrations and a three-day holiday, Kazinform reported Saturday.

In an address to his compatriots on Saturday, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said: “Exactly 30 years ago, our people made a historic choice by adopting the Basic Law of the country in a referendum. The Constitution became a solid foundation of Kazakh statehood, the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Constitution reflects the values and principles that determine the present and future of the nation.”

On this holiday, Kazakhstanis have three days off in a row – from August 30 to September 1. Festive events are held throughout the country.
