A meeting of the organizing committee for the preparation and holding of the 2025 Saint Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky International Sports Games was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Sports, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rossotrudnichestvo, the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as other interested organizations and regions of Russia.

The head of the Russian Ministry of Sports, Mikhail Degtyarev, spoke about the preparations for the games and the competition program: "This year, the sports program will be rich and diverse. Participants will perform in 6 sports: basketball, football, table tennis, chess, volleyball, and the GTO complex standards. In addition, we will have an additional program. The city with the richest history and cultural heritage has a lot of experience in organizing major competitions and will be an ideal platform. I am sure that these games will develop. We are trying to hold them in an international format for the first time and are already seeing the interest of our foreign colleagues."

Vice Governor of St. Petersburg Boris Piotrovsky noted that the city's preparations for the games are proceeding according to a comprehensive plan, which includes activities in various areas. Sports facilities for the competitions have already been approved, cost estimates for the organization and holding have been formed and agreed upon, as well as a plan of activities to ensure comprehensive security during the preparation and holding of the games.

The Deputy Prime Minister instructed that special attention be paid to the issue of attracting representatives of foreign countries to the games and that all necessary measures be taken to achieve this.

Ambassador-at-Large, Special Representative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for International Sports Cooperation Mikhail Khorev noted that invitations to participate in the games were sent to the heads of sports departments of other countries. Serbia's decision on sending a team participating in the games to St. Petersburg is awaited. The department will also assist in obtaining visas for participants and guests of the event.

The event venue in St. Petersburg will host the international forum "Faith and Sport", aimed at interaction between religious organizations of traditional faiths in Russia and executive authorities, organizations and institutions in the field of physical culture and sport. It will combine scientific, educational, informational and cultural events for participants and guests of the games.

Metropolitan of Murmansk and Monchegorsk, Chairman of the Patriarchal Commission on Physical Culture and Sports Mitrofan proposed adding the event to the list of especially significant official physical culture and sports events with inclusion in the Unified Calendar Plan.
