BEIJING, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) — China's 2025 summer movie season is drawing to a close with strong growth, with a large number of hit Chinese-made films pushing total box office revenues past last year's, signaling renewed activity in the world's second-largest film market.
As of Friday evening, China's summer box office had reached 11.64 billion yuan (about $1.64 billion), surpassing the total summer box office in 2024, according to Chinese ticketing platform Maoyan.
The summer film season in China will run from June 1 to August 31. Traditionally, it is one of the most profitable in terms of box office receipts in the country. –0–
