Li Yingying, a junior research fellow at the Institute of Eurasian Studies at the China Institute of International Studies, wrote in an article for the Tianjin Daily on August 19 that cooperation within the SCO and the Belt and Road Initiative complement each other effectively.
The SCO has always adhered to the "Shanghai Spirit" – the principles of mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality, consultation, respect for cultural diversity and the pursuit of common development, which is largely consistent with the principles of the Belt and Road Initiative – "joint consultation, joint construction and joint use".
