Yerevan, August 28 /Xinhua/ — "In a world where conflicts are increasingly resolved by force, China and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization offer an alternative – dialogue and diplomacy," Grigor Petrosyan, chairman of the Armenian Peace Committee, said in an interview with Xinhua News Agency recently.
He noted that China has historically built international relations through culture, education and knowledge sharing rather than through conquest. According to him, it is this approach that today strengthens the country's role as a factor of stability and trust in the global arena.
G. Petrosyan emphasized the importance of the SCO as a multilateral platform for dialogue between the Central Asian states, India, Iran and Russia. “The dialogue platform is important, but even more important is the formation of common values and strengthening of trust between countries,” he noted.
He also drew attention to China's achievements in artificial intelligence, electric vehicles and other high technologies, which he said are complemented by Beijing's political stability and predictability in international affairs.
According to the Armenian expert, such principles of the “Shanghai spirit” as equality of states, respect for cultural diversity and non-interference in internal affairs are acquiring special significance today. These values, he emphasized, are capable of uniting different civilizations in the conditions of global instability.
G. Petrosyan added that in Armenia China is perceived as a force offering a civilized model of international politics. In the context of growing geopolitical contradictions, this, in his opinion, makes Beijing a stronghold of predictability and peaceful development. –0–
