BEIJING, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) — Preparations for the military parade to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War have been basically completed, said Major General Wu Zeke, deputy head of the Office of the Leading Group for the military parade and deputy head of the Operations Department of the Joint Staff Department of the Central Military Commission.
The parade will feature a wide range of weapons and military equipment, much of which will be on display for the first time, Wu Zeke said at a news conference on Thursday.
He noted that the event will highlight the latest achievements of the Chinese military in the field of army modernization and new efficiency in increasing combat readiness.
Three comprehensive rehearsals for the parade have ended with satisfactory results, Wu Zeke said, stressing the high morale of all troops taking part in the parade and the excellent condition of their equipment and military hardware. -0-
